A 365-Day Commitment

May 15th, I made a commitment.  Michael Hyatt and several other bloggers that I follow talk about having a “platform”.  I couldn’t figure out what a “platform” was.  My husband tried to help me understand, but it still didn’t really make any sense.  Then, May 15th, something clicked, and I understood what they meant.  It was in a comment that Andy Andrews made in his, “Mastering the Seven Decisions”.  Andy said that you have to find your passion. What is it that goes from just tumbling around inside your head to tumbling around inside your heart?  That’s your passion.

For me, I realized that passion is clean water.  A few years ago, I saw a statistic that every 18 seconds someone on this planet dies because of diseases associated with a lack of clean drinking water.  I was floored by that.  With today’s technology, it does not seem possible to me that so much of the world’s civilizations live without that fundamental and  foundational basic need.

So, I am making the commitment that for the next 365 days, I will make an effort every single day to see what I can do to change that statistic. I decided to blog and chronicle my search and results so that I would be held accountable for that commitment and hopefully raise awareness.  I was inspired by a quote from Helen Keller.  She said, “…I cannot do everything, but still, I can do something.”
